Under new legislation that will take effect in 2011, immigration procedures in the Netherlands will be revamped, with simplified filing procedures and new sponsorship obligations for employers. Employers of highly skilled migrants will also see shorter processing times but more compliance responsibilities under the legislation. In addition, Dutch immigration authorities will gain increased enforcement powers.
