Anna Dannfelt, aromatherapist, stress therapist and holistic coach, says that moving to Luxembourg sort of "happened" but now she is settled and very pleased with her decision.Name: Anna Dannfelt
Nationality: Swedish
City of residence: Berbourg
Name of company: Aromatherapy of Luxembourg s.à.r.l
Date of company launch: May 2005
Can you give us a brief description of your business and how it is going?
Aromatherapy: Training, treatments, lectures, products.
Stress-management: Coaching / treatments, training, lectures.
My business is still a somewhat unknown area in Luxembourg. I also work in other countries with training and lecturing. In recent years, Luxembourg has finally started sitting up and taking notice of stress and alternative/complementary methods.
What do you like about doing business in Luxembourg?
Luxembourg is small, which makes it easy to connect with people and make yourself known. The social climate is open and friendly and word of mouth travels fast.
What do you find most frustrating about doing business in Luxembourg?
The lack of alternative markets...everything is more or less connected to economy and banking, making it a bit difficult to highlight another arena.
What hurdles did you encounter when setting up?
Languages and having no plan. Luckily, I had amazing Luxembourgish advisors who took care of everything for me, which made it very easy to set up business.
Has the economic crisis affected your business?
Not much until recently, when people are finding a need and interest in my services. Health and well-being has suddenly become an issue. Sorry to say, but the crisis is good for my business.
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs setting up business in Luxembourg?
Get to know people, learn to understand the different languages. Find good advisors and get involved with the Luxembourgish community.
How does running a business in Luxembourg compare to running a business in other countries that you have lived in?
I have run a business in Sweden and found that very hard. Luxembourg, on the other hand, has an open business climate and facilitates the running of a business in many ways.
